Universal Credit drives people to suicide and destitution - if you’re affected please get in touch

This is the government that claims it is slashing benefits “to help people back into work” ...

Yet most people are claiming ‘in work’ benefits because the cost of living has risen way out of kilter compared with many ordinary wages.

If you’re a single parent, it’s even tougher.

Here are two examples of many who have been brought to their knees as a result .... Universal Credit (a new system to combine six benefits into one smaller sum) has made one family homeless and another single parent consider suicide.

The government (continually callous and inhumane as ever) claims the system is working well.

The report isn’t very long, but it is desperately sad.

We can’t let ministers (who know perfectly well the hardship and stress they’re causing) get away with destituting people and driving them to the brink of suicide.

I want to hear from anyone in my ward (Otter Valley) who is suffering as a result of cuts to benefits and/or the introduction of Universal Credit.

I will do my best to help you.

Here’s the Channel 4 film -
