Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead

Your new East Devon District Councillor!

Sunday, 08 May 2011 0 Comments by Claire

I am absolutely thrilled that I was elected on Friday, with 1364 votes - a majority of 542.

Sara Randall Johnson, EDDC’s Leader of 10 years and Ottery St Mary Rural’s councillor for 20 years, lost her seat.  Tony Howard, her fellow Conservative running mate, who was elected with 822 votes, will also serve residents living in Ottery St Mary Rural ward.

The turnout in the Ottery St Mary Rural Ward was spectacularly high (the highest in East Devon at 62.3 per cent) a testimony to how interested residents are in local issues that affect them, and they can influence.

I would like to thank each and every person who voted for me, for showing such faith and trust in me.  I will work hard for you and always strive to fairly represent your views.

Thank you once again.

Claire
